Nartwork APS launches the International Open Call – “Ashes and Light: Chromatics of Peace in a Land of Saints”, aimed at the realization of a contemporary art group exhibition to be held from April 11 to 26, 2026, at the Monumental Complex of the Early Christian Basilicas of Cimitile (Naples, Italy).
The exhibition project unfolds within a site of profound historical and spiritual stratification and invites artists to engage, through the languages of contemporary art, with the theme of peace as a fragile yet necessary process, capable of emerging even from the ashes of history.
“Ashes and Light” explores the dialogue between destruction and rebirth, memory and hope, matter and spirit.
The selected artworks will be called to establish a sensitive dialogue with the monumental context of Cimitile, reflecting on the possibility of transformation and regeneration that characterizes contemporary experience.
The open call is open to artists aged 18 and over, with no limits regarding age, nationality, or geographical origin.
All contemporary art techniques and media are admitted, provided that the artworks are compatible with the historical, architectural, and conservation requirements of the exhibition site.
Each artist may submit one artwork only.
Participation in the contest is free of charge.
To apply, artists must complete the dedicated application form available at the link, including an image of the artwork, by February 25, 2026.
The artworks will be selected by a curatorial committee appointed by the Board of Directors of Nartwork APS.
A maximum of 30 artworks will be selected for the final exhibition.
Selected artists will be notified by March 15, 2026.
The selected artworks will be featured in the international group exhibition “Ashes and Light: Chromatics of Peace in a Land of Saints”, taking place from April 11 to 26, 2026, at the Monumental Complex of the Early Christian Basilicas of Cimitile (Naples, Italy).
On April 11, the award ceremony for the selected artists and the official opening (vernissage) of the exhibition will take place, with art historian Gianpasquale Greco and the curators.
During the opening event, the exhibition brochure will be distributed free of charge.
